Geography
Here at Leverstock Green CE Primary School, we strive to provide a high-quality geography education to inspire a curiosity and fascination in pupils about the world and their place in it. The curriculum is designed to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. We also understand the importance of teaching children about their local environment, where they are from and their role in protecting it.
Teaching should provide pupils with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes and, as they progress, they should deepen their understanding of the interaction between these processes and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. The teaching of diverse cultures and communities will encourage pupil’s tolerance, acceptance and understanding of others and promote their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Geographical skills such as map and compass reading will be taught alongside knowledge to support increased independence in life outside of the classroom.
