Art
At Leverstock Green CE Primary School, we believe that art gives our pupils the opportunity to express themselves, respond to new ideas and gain skills and experience with a variety of media.
Art throughout the school stimulates creativity and reflectiveness. It enables children to communicate what they see, feel and think through discussion and practical skills. As they grow through the school, children experiment with their ideas, and their use of line, shape, pattern, colour and texture. They study the work of notable artists and designers throughout history and from around the world, taking inspiration from their use of materials and unique styles. We encourage children to reflect on artwork verbally and when doing so, children are supported to develop their resilience to criticism and understand ow to improve. Wherever appropriate, art is linked to topic work so that children link their skills across the wider curriculum.
