Homework for this week

(due on Thursday 23rd April)

Home Learning to be handed in on Thursday 23rd April 2026

This week the children have been given a Maths Activity which is a worksheet titled “Fractions – additions, subtractions and multiplication”. In English, they are to complete a worksheet called “Apostrophes, colons and semi-colons”. It is not our intention for home learning to cause unnecessary anxiety at home, therefore if there any concerns, please do speak to the teacher. Please ensure that no more than 30 mins is spent on each activity.

Weekly expectations

Times tables

Reading

Please ask your children to practice their times tables daily on TTRS. This only needs to be for 5/ 10 minutes per day but daily practise is proven to lead to greater fluency. Good knowledge of Times Tables helps with all Maths.

Make sure your child reads a minimum of 5 times per week and it is logged into their reading record. Reading is the key to them being able to access the full curriculum and it is important that they read a variety of materials. It will be useful to spend time on “EdShed” as well.

Spellings- these will be tested on Thursdays. Please help your child to learn them before this. Please remind your children that spelling only need to begin with a capital letter if it is a proper noun (names, months etc.) or it is used at the start of a sentence.

These spelling are from the government Year 5 and Year 6 list

For this half term, spelling will concentrate on Year 5 and 6 Statutory Spellings. The children have a list of them and all of these spelling have been sent home and used In spelling tests since the start of Year 5. Every Thursday, we will have a test of 10 spellings from this list, however the children will not know which words, this is the same as the SATs spelling test

Reminders

For those that were not able to attend the Manor Adventure meeting, the power point with all of the information is on the Year 6 page on the website.
