Our Nursery

Welcome

Welcome to our nursery, where we pride ourselves on offering a truly exceptional start to your child's educational journey. Our school setting combines the nurturing environment of a dedicated nursery with the extensive benefits of being part of a vibrant school community. It is also led by an experienced and fully qualified teacher, who ensures that all activities and learning opportunities are carefully planned to meet the developmental needs of the children. Your child can expect the best start to their school journey here at Leverstock Green School Nursery.

Facilities

We are fortunate to boast extensive indoor and outdoor learning environments. Children have the freedom to explore, run, and play in a safe, expansive setting, including access to large playing fields and natural outdoor areas. This ample space supports gross motor skill development, healthy physical activity, and fosters a connection and love of nature. We have a large outdoor area for the children to learn.  This includes a covered area for year-round use, a climbing frame, hang bars, tarmacked area, reading shed, mud kitchen and grassed area for games.

Our Garden Facilities

Also, the children regularly use the other school facilities - the hall, dining hall, playgrounds, fields, outdoor classroom and forest school area.

Forest School

As well as our spacious garden, children also have access to a large 'Forest School' area on our school grounds. Here we get to explore nature and are even learning fire safety to enjoy stories around our fire pit!

Activities

Along with our Nursery children having access to indoor and outdoor provision that reflects all 7 Areas of Learning, in line with the EYFS framework, children also get to take part in a range of enrichment activities throughout the school year including workshops, a nativity performance and an off-site trip in the summer. Take a look at our gallery of activities to see some of the exciting things we have offered our children last year.

Why choose our School Nursery?

We are dedicated to providing a stimulating, safe, and happy environment where every child can thrive, play, and grow with confidence.

  • School Readiness - our children leave Nursery being fully ready for Reception class. They are confident with following the school's daily routines and have the benefit of being around the older Reception children.
  • Cost - we are free to parents/carers for the 15 hours per week and free for the 30 hours per week for those with an eligibility code.
  • Better outcomes for children - children that attended our nursery achieved better results in their Year 1 phonics screening for the past few years.
  • Here's what our parents/carers say:

Today, he came home full of smiles, covered in paint head to toe and really excited to tell us all about his firework painting in the garden! He said “I had such a fun day at Nursery Mummy! I flicked the paint on the gigantic paper!”

I love that he gets the opportunity to get really messy, explore the outdoors and enjoy lots of physical play.  I also appreciate how caring and warm Miss Munro is with him, always welcoming him with a lovely smile and a warm hello in the morning.

It was lovely to see how happy and confident the children are in their classroom. I really enjoyed playing some alien games with them working on number skills  in Family Learning

Our son started at Leverstock Green Nursery class having been to two different private day nurseries previously. He didn’t settle particularly well at either and this is the first setting where he has enjoyed going along and gets excited when we mention it in the mornings! The team are very warm and nurturing, which is what he needs. Perhaps most importantly, because the setup is more like a school classroom as opposed to private day nursery, we are confident he will be ready for a reception classroom when the time comes. He loves Forest school and the outdoor area is amazing for climbing and exploring and he’s starting to make some little friends too.

Leverstock Green Nursery gave my child the very best start. She absolutely loved her time there, and the nurturing, engaging environment meant she was more than prepared for starting school. The close partnership between the Nursery and the Reception class made her transition smooth and reassuring, helping her settle quickly and with confidence. She loves school and is thriving because of the fantastic foundation she had in Nursery.

Choosing Leverstock Green School Nursery, for our children was the best decision we made to prepare them for their educational journey. The transition from nursery to Reception class was smooth; the familiar routines, environment meant they stepped into 'big school' with confidence. We believe this is largely due to the exceptional advantage of having a qualified teacher planning and leading the nursery class. This ensures the curriculum is not just childcare, but a carefully structured introduction to phonics, numeracy, and school life, perfectly aligning with the demands of Reception.
